Solar Hot Water

In a “close-coupled” solar hot water system the storage tank is horizontally mounted immediately above the solar collectors on the roof. No pumping is required as the hot water naturally rises into the tank through thermosiphon flow. In a “pump-circulated” system the storage tank is ground- or floor-mounted and is below the level of the collectors; a circulating pump moves water or heat transfer fluid between the tank and the collectors.

Solar Hot Water systems are designed to deliver hot water for most of the year. However, in winter there sometimes may not be sufficient solar heat gain to deliver sufficient hot water. In this case a gas or electric booster is normally used to heat the water.

Our solar collectors are flexible enough to be installed in most Residential, Business and Commercial hot water applications, but the basic evacuated tube solar heating principal remains the same:

  1. The evacuated tube solar collector captures the sun’s light and heat energy.
  2. A circulator pushes water through the solar collector, transferring the captured heat into the water.
  3. The heat is then stored in a tank, which continually heats throughout the day.
  4. Hot water is drawn from the storage tank into the household when hot taps are opened.

The Apricus solar hot water system is a high-quality, highly efficient way to generate hot water for your household or business. The Apricus system uses evacuated tube solar collectors to harness the sun’s energy, providing hot water, keeping environmental costs low, and keeping hot water bills to a minimum.

Apricus evacuated tube solar technology is becoming recognised as the most efficient choice for solar hot water systems. This is thanks to the round tube design that allows heat to be captured for more hours of the day and with better efficiency than flat panel solar. The three sizes of Apricus Solar Hot Water Systems are below.
