COMMERCIAL SOLAR

Commercial grid-tie (‘grid connect’) solar systems are power systems energised by photovoltaic panels which are connected to the utility grid. Grid-connected photovoltaic power systems (‘the PV system’) consist of Photovoltaic panels, grid connect solar inverters and grid connection equipment.

Electricity is generated by the PV system and routed to loads (components that consume power – e.g. appliances and lights), offsetting the utility electrical load of a business.

Excess energy that is unused by the business can be sold back to the utility providing a source of revenue. The tariff depends on your provider and situation.

In some situations, the use of battery backup storage should be used. Battery backup storage can be charged using the PV system and/or the grid. Backup storage can become useful in black-outs, grid outages, for powering intermitent heavy loads and to lower electricity bills.
